Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why the name “Inkkas”?

We set out to build a brand that connects our planet and people through artful footwear. When Inkkas was founded in 2012, we partnered with skilled artisan shoemakers in Peru to create our first classic sneakers using authentic Peruvian textiles. Our name honors our roots in Latin America, and reflects our identity as an inclusive and global brand that celebrates nature and art around the world.

How does my purchase help reforestation?

It is thanks to our partnership with Trees for The Future  (https://trees.org), an award-winning global tree planting organization, that we can guarantee you that your purchase will directly allow for a new tree to be planted on the planet.  With your support, Inkkas has been responsible for planting more than 325,050 trees as of 2022.

I just ordered my shoes, when will they arrive?

I have a sizing question, who can help?

We created detailed size guides on each product page for your quick reference. Please refer to those for size and fit information for a particular shoe. If you still have questions or need guidance, feel free to email support@inkkas.com.

Where are Inkkas shoes made?

All of our shoes are handmade in Mexico. Our signature woven textiles are supplied from local artisans and professionals in Peru. When you buy our shoes, you are buying an authentic, quality Latin American product.

The shoes I want are listed as "Out of Stock" or “Sold Out” — when will you be getting it again?

If your shoes are currently not in stock, please join the waitlist on the product page to be alerted for a restock, or check back in a few days. Our collections are often made in small batches, but we receive shipments regularly.

I have wide feet; does Inkkas carry sizes for people with wide feet?

At this time, Inkkas only makes shoes in “regular” standard widths. We do not currently offer wide sizes. However, the construction of our Joggers and Slip Ons collections tend to accommodate wider feet. We recommend giving these a try!

I would like to buy an Inkkas gift certificate to offer as a gift. How do I do that?

Gifts certificates are available here. You can also find them under the shop tab on the website. They are a great gift option for holidays and birthdays!

Are Inkkas shoes designed for performance, like hiking or running?

All of our shoes, including our Joggers, Runners, Camping Boots and Trekks, are designed as comfortable lifestyle footwear. They are made to be comfortable and durable – and many have found them to be great for long walks or casual jogs and hikes, depending on specific needs.  However, they are not designed as technical performance footwear.

What does “handcrafted” mean?

Our footwear designs rely on age-old, small batch craft techniques that are better for people and the planet. We use the finest textiles, leathers and vegan leathers to develop comfortable and vibrant shoes, all crafted by hand.

How are shoemakers who work with Inkkas paid?

Our partners throughout the supply chain are paid fair living wages and work in environments that prioritize health, safety, and respect.

I got my Inkkas shoes dirty. How should I clean them?

We do not recommend putting Inkkas shoes in the washing machine. To keep your Inkkas clean and looking good, we recommend spot cleaning them with a rag and a little soap and water. (For leather areas, spot clean  with water only or use a specialized leather cleaner.) Please refer to the Care Instructions on the product page for more information.

Are Inkkas waterproof?

While Inkkas shoes are not waterproof, they are water-resistant. This means they will resist the intrusion of light water (yes, you can stroll around on rainy days). However, if you plan to take them into inclement weather, we recommend using this spray-on protectant to further protect or waterproof your shoes.

What can I do with old Inkkas I no longer wear?

Inkkas is always looking for ways to reduce waste, so we encourage all of our customers that are finished using a pair to donate them. There are quality programs across the country and donation centers that will take used shoes. Our partner organization that does a great job taking used shoes and repurposing them is Soles4Souls (https://soles4souls.org). Please continue to support our mission of sustainable habits by donating your used shoes instead of throwing them in the trash.

Do Inkkas shoes have arch support?

Yes, Inkkas provide arch support that is sufficient for the curvature of the average foot.

However, if you typically wear orthopedic insoles in your shoes, you may want to use orthopedic insoles in your Inkkas as well. Inkkas' insoles are removable to make room for orthopedic inserts for the following collections: Slip Ons, High Tops, Low Tops, Camping Boots, and Trekk Boots.
